VIDEO: Memphis Depay Gifts Diamond-Encrusted NBA Ring To Griezmann

Memphis Depay gave Atletico Madrid’s all-time top goalscorer, Antoine Griezmann, an NBA-style ring adorned with diamonds.

The France international scored his 174th goal for the Liga giants in January, surpassing Rojiblancos veteran Luis Aragones, who he shared World Cup victory with in 2018. Now, he has a unique memento of that accomplishment thanks to a Wanda Metropolitano club colleague. The ring in question has a big No. 7, Griezmann’s preferred team number, and is covered with diamonds. It comes in a unique case with a small screen showing a compilation of Griezmann’s best moments from his two stints as an Atletico Madrid player.

The Dutch forward Depay, who also shared a brief Barcelona teammate relationship with Griezmann, has made a special effort to give a close buddy a keepsake. Given Griezmann’s passion for American sports, particularly basketball and the NFL, he received a ring similar to the ones awarded to Super Bowl and NBA Finals champions.

On February 17, Griezmann will be seeking to increase his goal total as Atletico Madrid takes on Las Palmas in La Liga. However, with fourth-place Atleti 13 points behind league leaders Real Madrid in the standings, his team’s hopes of winning the championship are unlikely to materialise. They are still in the running for awards, though, as Diego Simeone‘s team faces Inter in the Champions League last-16 and advances to the Copa del Rey semifinals.
