Update As Anthony Joshua’s Horror Crash Claims 2 Lives

The sporting world, family and friends particularly are still in prayerful mood over the case of former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua.

The former two-time unified WBO, IBF and WBA heavyweight champion narrowly escaped death in a ghastly road accident that occurred around the Sinoma/Makun axis, near Sagamu, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.

Whereas the boxing sensation survived and is currently receiving treatment in hospital, it was not so for two foreign nationals.

The two, whose identities were withheld, and who could not make it after the crash were foreign nationals who had followed him on a visit to Nigeria.

They were returning to Shagamu from Lagos, before the crash.

In its reaction, the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), had attributed the crash to travelling beyond the legally prescribed speed limit.

Anthony JoshuaIt said as a result, it lost control while attempting to overtake, before crashing into a stationary truck.

“The incident involved a black Lexus SUV and a stationary red commercial Sinotruk.

A total of five adult males were involved. Two people sadly lost their lives, one sustained injuries, while two others escaped unhurt”,  the Corps, in a statement by its Public Education Officer, Mr Olusegun Ogungbemide, said.

The Eagle however reports that the Anthony Joshua crash is attracting divergent views online, with a divergent one picking holes on the reason of overspreading proffered by the FRSC as causing the crash.

The two of Anthony Joshua’s closest friends and trusted trainers, who lost their lives in the accident are identified as Sina Ghami and Latif Latz.
