Tuchel Wants Fernandes, Prioritise Transfer Demand

Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Bayern Munich, is about to ink a new contract with the Bavarians, but he has two demands that can scuttle the agreement.

Bayern and Tuchel declared in February that they will be splitting up at the end of the current campaign. Tuchel may, however, ink a new contract with Der Rekordmeister to retain him at the team at least for another season after the Bavarians were unable to draw in any of their top candidates to succeed the German. But if Bayern reject his two conditions, Tuchel will be enticed to forego signing a contract.

The Independent claims that the former Chelsea manager has requested that the team pursue the signing of Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United. The Portuguese attacking midfielder has reportedly been unsatisfied at Old Trafford this season, which would be great news for Bayern because it might mean that they lose Jamal Musiala soon, as Manchester City is keen to sign the German.

The second demand from Tuchel is a top defensive midfielder. The 50-year-old believes that the pivotal point in Bayern’s season was when they failed to sign Fulham’s Joao Palhinha on last summer’s deadline day. Tuchel wants to avoid the same this season and wants a pivot to be brought in as soon as possible.

Although Bayern has stated repeatedly this month that Tuchel will not be returning, it now appears likely that the team will do a dramatic U-turn and announce Tuchel’s renewal this summer. The renewal, nevertheless, might be totally dependent on Bayern’s stance over Tuchel’s requests for the next transfer window.
