Efforts to drain a septic tank has resulted in tragedy, claiming the lives of three workers and leaving shock waves behind.
The three people, including a father and his son, had been contracted by Makindu Boys High School in Makindu, Makueni County when the incident happened.
Reports indicated the workers had started the process but allegedly lost consciousness due to limited oxygen inside the septic tank before passing and consequently drowning.

Emergency response teams from the Makueni County disaster management unit, working alongside officials from the Kenya Red Cross, were dispatched to the scene to conduct a recovery operation.
After hours of rescue operation, the bodies of the three victims were retrieved from the tank by emergency services and taken to a nearby hospital.
Reports add that the police have since commenced investigations into the incident.
