The Right Diet For Those Over 50

Published

on

There is a common saying that you are what you eat. For a healthy lifestyle, it is important for us to watch what we eat especially at certain stages of life so that we are not pre-disposed to ailments and diseases. I am a believer of the fact that ‘everything God has created is good’ and also that ‘things must be done in moderation’.

It is healthy to eat at least one living food per day. That is, food in its edible raw form such as fruits. A typical daily diet could be:

Breakfast

Oat, Milk & Banana/fresh juice/ Whole wheat Bread buttered with Avocado Pear & topped with tomatoes & lettuce, Tea or fruit juice

Lunch

Rice, Fish & Vegetables/ Pounded Yam with Vegetable Soup/ Beans porridge cooked with corn/Beans with Plantain & Fish/Rice with Beans and Fish

Dinner

Dinner is better taken 4 hours before bedtime. Subsequently, tea, fruits, other light snacks may be taken. Excess liquid should not be taken too close to bedtime.

Snacking in between meals can be nuts, fruits & salads.
