Roots FM – First Reggae Radio Station In Nigeria Opens

 History has again been made in Nigeria, with the opening of the nation’s first fully reggae station.

An initiative of  Kunle Onime, known as farmer, the new station is located in the Ogun State capital of Abeokuta, and is also called Roots FM 97.1.  

A competent source told The Eagle that the aim and aspiration of the station’s owner is to bring back this genre of music, to what it was in the good old days.

“The station will be strictly on reggae music and other things that relate with the genre.

“There will be different presenters for each of the programmes on daily basis”, he said. 

Our correspondent gathered that test running of the perfect transmission module started earlier this month and is still ongoing on, and this is to ensure perfect delivery to millions of reggae fans across the country who had been longing for something of the nature.

According to him, this would especially be the case for fans in Ogun, Lagos and Oyo states.

“Kunle has once again proven to the World that he is a man of positive and conscious mind, and this is in line with sincere and deep passion for reggae music.

“It started way back at Floating Bukka, and he has been able to put down huge resources in the building and opening of the station.

“It is a way of keeping his faith alive”, we were reliably told.
