Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Napoli is reportedly the target of a €100 million bid from PSG, as Luis Enrique looks to bolster his team following Kylian Mbappe’s departure.

Kvaratskhelia has been in sensational form, featuring in 44 matches across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing nine assists. His performance has not gone unnoticed, and with the potential for a standout showing at UEFA Euro 2024, his stock is set to rise even further.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport report, Paris Saint-Germain have put in a decisive bid of €100 million (£85m/$109m) to test Napoli’s resolve as the Serie A outfit are reluctant to part ways with their star player. PSG see him as an ideal candidate to elevate their attacking prowess, particularly in the UEFA Champions League, a stage where Napoli will not be competing next season. The Parisian club aims to leverage this opportunity to attract Kvaratskhelia, promising him a platform for further growth and success.

Interestingly, Kvaratskhelia and his father, Badri, have not expressed a desire to leave Napoli. They believe that another season with the club could be beneficial for his development, helping him achieve greater consistency and potentially enhancing his market value.

However, the decision ultimately rests with Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, who has been engaged in talks with Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, to negotiate a contract renewal. However, the parties are currently at an impasse, with Napoli offering a deal worth €4 million plus bonuses, while Kvaratskhelia’s camp is demanding a base salary of at least €5 million.

De Laurentiis is determined to keep Kvaratskhelia and is reportedly considering a bridge agreement that acknowledges the player’s rising status while protecting the club’s interests. This strategy could involve a contract extension with a release clause, similar to the arrangement made with striker Victor Osimhen. De Laurentiis values Kvaratskhelia at no less than €150 million, a figure that even financially robust clubs like PSG might find daunting.

The coming weeks are expected to be crucial as all parties work towards a resolution before the European Championship. PSG’s aggressive bid signals their intent to rebuild and compete at the highest level, while Napoli faces the challenge of balancing financial incentives with their ambition to retain top talent.
