Presidential Aspirant Warns Nigerians Against Religious Extremism

An aspirant to the 2023 Presidential election in Nigeria, Mr. Olufemi Ajadi, has warned Nigerians against religious extremism, advising instead on the spirit of tolerance towards one another.

Ajadi who is yet to pitch his tent with any of the political parties, added that true religion inculcates in people, the spirit of mercy and care towards others rather than hatred..

The presidential aspirant spoke at the launching at the  launching of new mosque; qur’an graduation and turbaning celebration hosted by Jamhiyat Lutfi Khaeri fil Islam Faedat Ibrahimiyat Movement of Nigeria at Akinlumo Orita Odan, Olodo, Ibadan on Sunday.

Tracing the two major religions – Christianity and Islam, he declared that anyone who took to violence in ehe name of practicing his or her religion had no basis.

He advised instead that faithful should follow the foiundational principlas guiding the two major religions in the interest of peace.

“The two religions have it in scripture that ‘love your neighbour as yourself’. So, he that loves his neighbour will not steal, fight, fornicate or back bite his neighbour,” he said.

The chief host of the programme, Alhaji Isiaka Hamzat Fatade, said the graduants and the turbanees were given the appropriate certificates based on their religious knowledge, understanding and individual ability to comprehend and apply wisdom to any arise issues concerning Islamic religion.

Fatade said if Nigerians could see one another as creatures of one God that created heaven and earth with the intention of “let my religion be mine and your religion be yours” our political problems will be solved within a twinkling of eyes.

“Islam is a religion that bases its stance on knowledge and wisdom. It doesn’t embrace ignorance. No religion teaches violence. So, he that practises Islam in a way that creates fears in the heart of his neighbours will not witness the paradise in here after,” he said.

After the profound message, Ajadi donated some cements and money to the development of the mosque and the organization at large.
