Pregnant Housewife Abducted By Bandits Gives Birth In Captivity
A pregnant housewife who was abducted by bandits has given birth in captivity, though she had lost her husband to the bandit’s bullets.
The bandits, had stormed Kyaram community, Garga district of Kanam local government area of Plateau State, killed the pregnant housewife’s husband before abducting her and their daughter
The development was announced by National Secretary of Kanam Development Association (KADA), Shehu Kanam, in Jos, the state capital.
The woman’s husband, was identified as Umar Rufa’i, according to Kanam, who added that the kidnappers had called on Sunday, hours after the abduction to inform them that the deceased’s wife had given birth to a baby.
“We are shocked and saddened by the brutal killing of Umar at his residence in Kyaram community, Garga area of Kanam Local Government Area, on January 17, 2026, around midnight.

“The bandits also abducted his wife and daughter, who are still in captivity, “ the group said.
“We condemn this heinous act and express our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and the entire Kyaram community. Rufai was on Sunday, January 18, 2026, buried according to Islamic rites.
“The report we received this morning is that the bandits called and informed the family that the wife of deceased gave birth today, while in captivity.
“This is very heartbreaking, imagining the condition through which she delivered,” a Daily Trust report quotes the statement as stating.
According to the secretary, the entire Garga district has been plagued by banditry and kidnapping, with frequent reports of killings and abductions.
