Neuer Returns To Team Training Following Horrific Ski Accident

Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer has resumed limited team training ten months after breaking his leg in a skiing accident.

The 37-year-old German took part in a training session with Bayern’s other goalkeepers, Sven Ulreich and Daniel Peretz, along with the team’s outfield players on Thursday. He had not participated in a team training since the bizarre skiing mishap that occurred just a few days after Germany was eliminated from the World Cup group stages in Qatar. Bayern’s sporting director Christopher Freund said it is now “only a matter of days” until Neuer is available for selection but did not give a specific return date.

The lower-leg fracture required surgery last year, and the two-time Champions League champion with Bayern was sidelined for the balance of the 2022–23 campaign. “It feels wonderful to be back on the pitch with the squad. After the workout, Neuer expressed his satisfaction, according to SportBuzzer.

Neuer has only recently become a part of the team dynamics, thus his official return to Die Roten may still be a while off.
