Monthly Allowance: FG Releases Good News For NYSC Members
There is good news for NYSC members from the federal government concerning the monthly allowance of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving members.
The allowance has now been increased to N77, 000 effective July 2024.
The approval for increment is in accordance with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, information obtained by The Eagle has shown.
This was announced in a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission and signed by its Chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta.
The letter was dated 25th September 2024, and was announced through a statement by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations for the NYSC, Caroline Embu, as accessed at her official X account.
“The Federal Government has approved the increment of Corps Members’ monthly allowance to Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira (N77,000) with effect from July 2024,”
“This is in line with the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024,” the statement read in part.

Referring to an advocacy visit by the Director-General of the NYSC Brigadier General YD Ahmed, to the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for making real this Good News For NYSC Members.
The latest development has implies that outstanding on the allowances would be settled by the corps in due course.
The Eagle reports that the mandatory one year national youth service has become an integral part of the higher education experience of products of Nigerian universities and polytechnics.
It has helped in building inter-ethnic understanding while contributing toe the balanced development of Nigerian graduates.
It has equally helped significantly in fixing graduates to jobs in positions where they had demonstrated competence.
