Man Wins $5 million Christmas Lotto jackpot

What better way to celebrate Christmas than winning a $5.3m lotto jackpot on the day’s eve? Well, that is the fortune that has hit a lucky lotto player, in what has been described as Lotto Powerball jackpot.

He received the ultimate last-minute Christmas present after winning $5.3 million in Lotto Powerball jackpot.

Lotto gave one family in Central Otago an early Christmas present after they won $5 million with Powerball first division last week.

The man – who wishes to remain anonymous, said he only buys tickets when the jackpot is over $10 million. This time he bought a multi-draw ticket when the jackpot was $23 million.

“With it being the lead up to Christmas, I thought I might forget my ticket, so I bought a couple of draws in advance.

“When I saw the $23 million had been won, I forgot all about the other tickets I still had,” Stuff, a Newzealand based medium reports him as stating

He checked his emails on Thursday afternoon when he saw a message from MyLotto Customer Support.

The winning numbers were 31, 15, 18, 29, 6, and 13. The Bonus Ball was 26 and the Powerball was 2.

Two other players will also be celebrating after winning $333,333 with Lotto First Division in tonight’s live draw, adds the NewZealand Herald.

The winning tickets were sold at Ōpōtiki Pharmacy in Ōpōtiki and on MyLotto to a player from Tauranga.

“It said I’d won a prize and to fill in a Prize Claim Form, so I thought I’d better log in and have a look,” he said.

The man filled in the Prize Claim form not knowing how much he had won because the winning line wasn’t visible on the screen.

“Afterwards I looked at the ticket and was so shocked to see we’d won Powerball.”’

He rang MyLotto Support in disbelief, to discover he had won $5 million from Powerball first division and Lotto first division.

“I was shaking, and I wanted my wife to hear it too, so I put them on speakerphone and asked them to repeat it. ‘Congratulations, we confirm you’ve won five million dollars,

“We both burst in to tears and spent the rest of the day either dancing or crying,” he laughed.

The next day he logged into MyLotto and saw you could replay the draw, he said ‘it was brilliant.“

Anyone who bought their ticket from Ōpōtiki Pharmacy or on MyLotto is asked to check their ticket as soon as possible, Lotto said.

Tonight’s draw was part of what Lotto is describing as its “biggest Christmas ever” with $6m in extra prizes to be won this promotion period.

There’s one prize of $1m and 100 prizes of $50,000 up for grabs and all Triple Dip tickets bought between Sunday, December 8, and 7.30pm on Saturday, December 28, will be in the draw with a chance to win.
