I Think I Am At The Verge Of Giving Up

verge of giving up

If you like, you can call it the cry of a pauper, but the reality is that I am at the verge of giving up.

OLUWASEMILORE OLUBIIRE…

Why not, the the real definition of me now, is an extremely living human being that’s dead.

If it’s just a relief package I can get to feed my family for a while, I’ll definitely not get depressed all the time.

I’ve never wanted to die Young but I think I’m at the verge of giving up. All we get all the time is just sanitisers and face masks but are those the important things we need to survive?

The rule asking us to put on face masks whenever we are going out isn’t for everybody. Definitely, it is not for a pauper like me who doesn’t have a dime as transport fare to a friend’s so what are we saying?

We were told we’ll get relief items as COVID-19 palliative but not everyone got it now I don’t know my date because I feel like this world is too big for people like us to be remembered in our desolate places.

Some rich men aren’t helping the poor; they are only concerned about themselves and their families.

If only I can get a grain of the food they eat, I wouldn’t be lamenting. There’s no one to help, there’s no place to go, everyone is just concerned about their families; I shouldn’t blame them anyway.

Rich men are threading on our heads, we don’t have a say in the community because no one is ready to hear us out. We are rags before some people.

People who we cared for back then aren’t showing a sign of pity on us this period. Why?

Isn’t it said that a friend in need is a friend indeed? Why does it feel like we have no friends? Or probably because all our friends are poor too.

Our kids are becoming thin, our poultries are dying; we have no money and here we are hoping for a better tomorrow. Isn’t it just better if we die?

We cry to Eleduwa (God) to help us and save us from this devastating condition. He should help remove our burdens and put an end to this pandemic. Famine isn’t a good thing and we don’t want it in our land.

Heal our land Lord
