Spain national team manager, Luis de la Fuente has provided update on Gavi’s injury amid claims of burnout.

The Barcelona star was fresh going into the match, according to the Spanish manager, who also implied that the player’s unlucky injury was unrelated to burnout.

In the current season, the 19-year-old has made 15 appearances for Barcelona, starting 13 of them. However, the manager of the national team believed that the player’s injury was unlucky for both him and the team and had nothing to do with his fatigued.

With only 26 minutes played against Georgia, the midfield player was replaced due to a knee injury. He sobbed as the Spanish medical staff assisted him in leaving the pitch.

Although the teenager’s condition has not yet been officially updated, it is likely that he tore his anterior cruciate ligament and may not be able to play this season.

Speaking to reporters after the game, De La Fuente said, “It is a very difficult and very hard moment, for Gavi and Barça, but also for the national team and for me. We are destroyed but football has these things, this is the ugly part and it is something uncontrollable. It seemed that we had lost.

“The blow was nothing. It was a bad gesture. It was due to control. He stepped wrong and his knee went. This can happen in any situation. It was an accident, a misfortune. He was perfect to play. He was fresh and phenomenal. He had just not played the weekend and had no problem. With another player, we would be regretting it just as much.”

The loss to the Spanish midfielder is a major setback for Barcelona, but players like Frenkie de Jong and Pedri will help the team bounce back. Pedri was added back to the team for their matchday lineup against Real Sociedad earlier this month, and it is anticipated that the Dutch international will be back in the lineup for their Saturday matchup against Rayo Vallecano.
