Getting Drunk On Alcohol, Man Reveals 3 Decades Old Murder
There is nothing getting drunk on alcohol cannot do; if you doubt, ask Avinash Pawar how he came about revealing a crime he committed 30 years ago.
He by himself has spilled the beans during a drinking session a few days ago triggering police interest and his eventual arrest.
It was Senior Police Inspector and encounter specialist, Daya Nayak of the Mumbai Crime Branch, India, that got the tipoff and Pawar was arrested from Vikhroli on Friday.
The crime dates back to October 1993, when Avinash Pawar and two others had killed a 55-year-old man and his 50-year-old wife while robbing their house in Lonavala, NDTV reports.
Pawar was 19 when the crime was committed, and he managed to escape whereas the other two were reined in by the law.
He left his mother, and escaped to Delhi, later to Maharashtra’s Aurangabad, where he changed his name to of Amit Pawar and got a license in that name.
“From Aurangabad, Pawar went to Pimpri-Chinchwad and Ahmednagar, before finally settling in Mumbai’s Vikhroli.

“Pawar went on to get an Aadhaar card in his new name, got married and even ensured a successful political career for his wife”, the report added.
The report said when he left in 1993, he never visited Lonavala , the neigbourhood of his crime again, not even to meet his mother or his wife’s parents, who also live there.
Getting drunk on alcohol, nemesis reportedly caught up with him recently: “Pawar spilled the beans on the double murder and robbery to someone during a drinking session a few days ago. “Avinash Pawar is an accused in a double murder in Lonavala 30 years ago. The victims were an old couple who knew Pawar as he owned a shop near their house. He planned to rob their house with two other men and killed the couple during the robbery”, Raj Tilak Roshan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Mumbai Crime Branch), said
He added that “while the two other accused were arrested, Pawar went on the run and changed his name. He has been arrested from Vikhroli,” he added.
