Christmas Beef- Why Shoppers Stormed Abis Farmers New Outlet

Do you know why many households and outlets in need of beef this Christmas and New Year are storming Abis Farmer’s Market?

We equally did not know until we were privileged to storm the firm’s inauguration of a new branch at Ago, in the Okota area of Lagos.

In fact, the pedigree of those present, including the visionary of the project, Pastor Chidi Ihebinike, the United Nations (UN) Ambassador on Government Bilateral Agreements Ambassador (Dr)Adekunle  Badmus, Chief Executive Officer, Usman Nelson and Captain and reverend Mother idowu  Phillip, popularly known as Mama Rainbow, was indicative of the seriousness attached to the project.

With opening prayer done with, the CEO provided guests with background behind the initiative.

He, alongside other harvest committee members of his church, had been mandated to go purchase beef for a key function, but what they witnessed at the point of dressing the cow, was a put-off, from the surrounding to the entire process.

Another customer who had also purchased one and heading out with the cow on a commercial bike, just had a jerk and fell right inside a mud, smeared all over alongside the cow.

There and then, he decided to offer hygiene-conscious beef consumers a choice, a safe and better one at that, and that was how the outlet came about.

“Abis Farmers market did not start today. We have been working on this for more than 13years”,  the chief executive intoned, a point.

“We buy our cow from local market where people buy from but we keep them for 3months to deworm them, give them vitamin C.

“We treat them from the day they enter our ranch; they don’t eat grass again we have good food that we feed to them and when we transport them to Lagos with the help of Lagos state, we have vet doctors that will check this cows before we kill and even after killing”, Usman  Nelson further said.

The Eagle reports that the state of abattoirs in Lagos is one of serious concern, and from time to time, experts have warned of the likely break out of epidemics as a result, but the matter is still as it is.

.However, consumers who are discerning of hygiene and food safety generally, take personal caution in terms of what they consume and where they buy them.

Abis Farmers Market may well be the preferred alternative.
