Breaking: 50 Of The Abducted Niger State Students Escape

Relief has returned to the homes of 50 of the abducted Niger State students as they have successfully escaped from their abductors.

These are among the 315 students of St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School Papiri in Agwara Local Government Area abducted last Friday, from their hostels by bandits and taken away to unknown destination.

The soothing news was broken yesterday by Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, chairman of the Niger State chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Yohanna who is also the Catholic Bishop of the Kontagora Diocese, said the pupils regained their freedom between Friday and Saturday and had quietly reunited with their families.

“The pupils escaped between Friday and Saturday and have reunited with their parents as they could not return to the school after they escaped.

“We were able to ascertain this when we decided to contact and visit some parents. Note that, in the primary section, out of the total number of 430 pupils we have in the school, 377 of them are boarders and the remaining 53 others are non-boarders.

The abduction of the Niger State students, has once again thrown light in the porous security situation in the country, attracting global condemnation.
