Bayern Job? Zidane Says He’s Ready To Return To Management

Amidst rumours about the soon-to-be-vacant position at Bayern Munich, Zinedine Zidane has alluded to a possible return to management.

Zidane talked about his own future while watching a documentary about former Juventus and Italy coach Marcello Lippi. Following their announcement that they will be splitting with Thomas Tuchel, the Frenchman has been strongly associated with the Bavarian team.

During the premiere, Zidane praised Lippi via Gianluca di Marzio: “He was my coach, above all he made me come to Juventus. He’s the first one who believed in me and made me play, because in the end it wasn’t easy for him. I came from the experience in France, it was a bit difficult for me to prepare, but then in the end he made me play. So for me it was not only my coach, but what made me who I am.”

When asked if he would return to coaching, he said: “Why not, anything can happen. Now I’m doing other things, but we’ll see – I’d certainly like to return to the bench.”

After leaving Real Madrid in 2021, the 51-year-old has been out of the public eye, but his comeback has generated interest in the media ever since. The Frenchman won 11 trophies with the 13-time Champions League winners, having led them in two stints between 2016 and 2021.

When the season ends, it’s unclear if the Real Madrid icon will choose to return to action. Bayern Munich is perhaps the team that would be most likely to sign the Frenchman if he were to return.
