Akinwunmi Ambode Commissions New Police Post In Epe

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos, yesterday commissioned the newly constructed Odo- Noforija police station in Eredo Local Council Development Area, Epe.

The Governor, who represented by Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr Oluseye Oladejo, said that the gesture was in building a foundation for development, progress and prosperity.

Ambode, affirmed that the issue of security and safety of lives and property of the people in Lagos state was non-negotiable assuring residents of Noforija that the station would engender significant improvement in their socio-economic life.

He urged the Chairman of Eredo Local Council Government Area, and council members to synergise with the officers and men of the police command that would be deployed to the station for maximum effect.

The governor also appealed for a cordial relationship between the residents and police personal that will be attached to the area.

Police Commissioner, Edel Imohimi, lauded Governor Ambode for his commitment to security of lives and property demonstrated in the construction of the office for the Nigeria Police Force.

Imohimi, represented by a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mohammed Ali said that the conception and construction of a police station of this magnitude by the governor was a confirmation of the statement made by the President of the United states of America, Donald Trump, in the just conclude International Chief of Police Conference in Chicago that the Police Ruled the World.

He noted that the essence of having the police station was to police the community in line with the principles and ideologies of community policing, informing the police offices to be posted in the station to have it in mind that they exist for the people and cannot do without the people; to ensure they police with the people.

Eredo Local Council Development Area Chairman, Hon. Saliu Adeniyi said that it is their expectation that the police station would reduce crime to barest minimum in the community.

This gesture by Ambode, the council chief said, has proved that the governor really cares for the safety of lives and property of people of Eredo LCDA and Lagosians.

Adeniyi asked every member of the community to see the facility as a source of protection and not of intimidation, and that the police are their friends. He urged that useful information that can help foster safer lives, crime free and peaceful environment should not be kept from them.

The new police station

Oba Babatunde Ola Ogunlaja (JP), Kalejaiye II, The Aladeshoyin of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, described the commissioning of the police station as a historical landmark, which will be indelible in their minds forever.

The paramount ruler affirms that the station will create economic welfare for his people and cement good police community relationship. He however appealed to the banking industry to take advantage of the police station to locate some branches in the community.
