My people, It’s ‘Time To Be Blessed’

I may not be an ordained pastor of the gospel, but certain things in scripture enthrall me, especially, for their aptness.

The passage at Luke 4:16 – 20, happens to be one of such. It is in the sense that a sober reader could very well glean the theological implications of that reading by himself.

However, that scripture reckons that:  …. “And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened” on Jesus

I have wondered, what else were they expecting to hear that had not been extrapolated in those scriptures?

Please, do not misunderstand me: at some long point in this vocation of information gathering, processing, syndication and all, you just feel that way. What is it again, that you want to write, after about two decades, that you have not written before now? What, especially, if you have criss-crossed the mediums, and traversed the beats and positions!.

It’s this realisation, most humbly, that has influenced yours sincerely, that in addition to engaging the present, there might be need to take occasional forays into the past, and unearth those scribblings that may well have a bearing in this time; or those accounts from which the present could be better appreciated.

This is the way I welcome you to my personal column on this platform, an enterprise which I dare say, its time has come.

What is more? At least the post-script should be able to provide additional guide, and here we go:

…So soon, we are close to the end of another year, an eventful one at that. It’s that period of the year when TREMiites migrate from their different abodes to the headquarters church, summoned as it were, by the ministry’s flagship programme, the Kingdom Life World Conference (KLWC), which this year, is holding under the theme: God & God Alone.  

 But it is not just another KLWC; it is a special edition, being the 25^th in the series.  And as if to confirm the uniqueness of this particular edition, the Almighty sent a forerunner in the person of his Apostle, Dr MorisCerullo, all the way from the United States of America.  His physical presence, despite his busy schedules,  and prophetic declarations, were like a watering of the grounds before the much expected deluge of blessings. Certainly, his coming couldn’t have been an accident..

On the other hand, it had also become exigent to attempt a dispassionate appraisal of the overall socio-economic impact of the church of Jesus Christ in Nigeria. This is especially important, given the disparaging commentaries and weighty allegations of materialism wantonly heaped on the body of Christ today. Here, we have attempted an overview of the church’s impactful engagement with society, from infrastructural projects to intellectually stimulating programmes.

We have equally referred to scriptures, the compass of Christians, in our attempt at responding to the naughty question, whether men of God should dabble into entrepreneurship, or face their shepherding duties only.
