The Borno South Youth Alliance (BOSYA) has raised alarm that its president, Mallam Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).
It has also warned that nothing should happen to him.
The association gave the warning in an interaction with our correspondent, saying the armed DSS operatives came in two Toyota Hilux vehicles and whisked Mallam Kaigama away.
“Good afternoon sir, DSS came and arrested Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, they came with two hilluxs and guns and took him with them for investigation according to them”, they said in the release sent to The Eagle.
The arrest is coming on the heels of Kaigama’s recent appearances and speeches in the media where he has levied heavy allegations some influential individuals in the region, as culpable in the continued insurgency in Borno South.
He wondered why school children abducted from Massa have remained in captivity despite huge sums of money allegedly released to officials to effect their release.
Speaking under the umbrella of his association, he said not even the news that children under captivity have started falling sick due to long exposure to inclement weather and the psychological effects of their captivity
“We have also received information that some of the kidnapped children have fallen ill and are not receiving adequate medical care.
“This development has become a major concern in our ongoing mediation efforts, as our objective remains to secure their safe release with zero casualties, just as was achieved during the release of the Ngoshe 416 women and children”.
“We therefore call upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and every relevant government office and security institution to intensify and hasten whatever efforts are currently being made to secure the release of these innocent children before illness results in avoidable casualties”, he had said.

He had also made similar allegations a recent appearance on Channels Television, which may have warranted his arrest by the DSS.
Warning against the arrest, BOSYA stated that the outspokenness of their president against evil, should not be a reason why he should constantly be hounded by security agencies.
“Mal. Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama has displayed an uncommon bravery that all Nigerians must commend. He has fearlessly and boldly levelled weighty allegations against the Borno State government and Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume on a national platform.
“He has done what our security agencies, our political leaders, and even our traditional rulers have failed to do: he has named the elephant in the room.
“Now, the onus falls on the federal government. These allegations must not be dismissed. They must be investigated thoroughly, transparently, and without political interference. An investigation into what Kaigama has revealed may very well be the pathway to unravel the misery of the Boko Haram insurgency’s unending war.

“Nigerians are watching. The blood of the fallen demands nothing less than the truth. And that truth must not be silenced by violence, intimidation, or neglect.
Nothing must happen to Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama”, the statement signed by Ishaya Maigi warned.
