Oyo State Demolishes Building Used By The Adelabu Kidnappers

The Oyo State Government has demolished a three-bedroom bungalow allegedly used as a hideout by kidnappers involved in the abduction of the Adelabus.

The younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were abducted at Elewura in the Challenge area of Ibadan on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

They only secured their freedom through the intervention of security forces.

As a counter, the Oyo State Government has demolished the building located in the Lako Community along the Aiyegun–Anaye Road axis of Ibadan .

The demolition was carried out on Monday by officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, accompanied by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

The team visited the property as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities across Oyo State.

The state government reiterated its commitment to tackling insecurity and dismantling criminal networks operating within the state.

Individuals involved in such criminal activities, as well as facilities used to facilitate such crimes, would also be identified and dealt with in accordance with the law, the Oyo State government also warned.

The Eagle reports that Mrs Adelabu-John Paul, a younger sister to the immediate past Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu and her twin sons were kidnapped in the early hours of June 3 in Ibadan while conveying the children to school.

They regained their freedom yesterday following the intervention of the police.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Oyo Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the successful rescue operation in a terse statement made available to journalists on Saturday night.

The report is that armed gunmen intercepted her at Elewura area of Challenge in Ibadan and forcefully took her away with the twins.
