Mrs Adelabu-John Paul, a younger sister to the immediate past Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu and her twin sons were kidnapped in the early hours of June 3 in Ibadan while conveying the children to school.
Of course, the news like many others like it, sent emotions high, increasing the tempo of nation’s anxiety.
Today however, the Police Command in Oyo State has confirmed the successful rescue of the abductees.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Oyo Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the successful rescue operation in a terse statement made available to journalists on Saturday night.
The report is that armed gunmen intercepted her at Elewura area of Challenge in Ibadan and forcefully took her away with the twins.
Mr Femi Awogboro, the media aide to Chief Adelabu, has expressed the family’s gratitude to everyone for their concern and contributions toward the safe release of the victims.
He acknowledged the support of the Oyo State Government, security agents, the media, and friends during the family’s difficult period.
According to NAN, Awogboro said that Mrs Adelabu-John Paul and the twins, Peter and Paul, aged 12 years, were unhurt and have been reunited with the family.
