The Lagos State House of Assembly has removed Mr Olalekan Onafeko as Clerk of the House with immediate effect. It has also made new appointments to other relevant offices.
Lawmakers had, during plenary yesterday, and through a voice vote agreed to the changes
Providing justifications for the changes, the Speaker, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, said they were in line with established rules guiding tenure in the Assembly.
Obasa explained that Onafeko’s tenure had elapsed, making the decision a procedural step rather than a disciplinary measure.
Onafeko had served as Clerk since 2022.
The Speaker commended his contributions, noting that his tenure witnessed key legislative engagements and institutional developments within the Assembly.

Obasa also announced the appointment of Adenike Osinowo as the new Clerk of the House, with immediate assumption of duties.
He expressed confidence in Osinowo’s capacity, stating that her experience would strengthen legislative processes and administrative efficiency.
Meanwhile, the Assembly confirmed Latifat Ogbara as Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission.
Lawmakers described Ogbara’s confirmation as well deserved, citing her competence and track record in public service.
The Lagos House of Assembly, also yesterday, confirmed Remi Bello as a member of the Commission, tasking him with supporting institutional reforms.
