Thousands of followers of Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate have demonstrated rare independence gesture to the man they want as next president.

They defied all to flood into the streets of Lekki area of Lagos, Kaduna and Bauchi to demonstrate their solidarity and support, in the absence of the usual independence marches across the land.

They presented a spectacle for residents in those area staging their one million-man marches in support of Peter Obi.

obedientsIn the Lekki area of Lagos for example, they grounded commercial activities and movement rallying at the Lekki toll-gate in defiance of police orders.

Although there was heavy police presence, they were not deterred saying they had gone ahead of the police to obtain a police permit.

“We suspected that the police would want to prevent us from campaigning so we decided to go ahead of them to get a court order that gave us permission to protest anywhere in Lekki except for the toll-gate. We got the court order on Monday”, said Stan Ogbuehi, convener of the Peter Obi Rally for VGC area.

obedientsIn Bauchi, thousands of them took to the streets, armed with placards, posters, fliers, banners, stickers, t-shirts, face caps and many others bearing Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti’s names

Their march from the Multi-Purpose Indoor Sports Hall at the popular Wunti market, marched through Ahmadu Bello Way to Rain Zurfi, caused heavy traffic gridlock within the City

Some Obedients were on foot, some on bicycles, and also tricycles popularly called Keke Napep and even trucks.

They marches, sang and sentissed other Nigerians of the exigency in voting Obi as next president.

Youths, men, women and children were also part of the rally in support of the Labour Party Presidential candidate in Bauchi.

Part of the uniqueness of this stretch of the pro-Obi solidarity was that even physically challenged persons identified with it, braving the discomfort to march with others.
