As risky as Okada Rides may be, commuters in some states of the country pay through their noses to access this ubiquitous transportation mode.

Known by different names in different areas in the country, use of Okada – motorcycles for commercial transportation, has indeed become an important aspect of people’s lives.

Many factors account for this, but majorly, the pressures on commuters to get to their destinations on time.

Overpopulation, bad roads and perennial traffic gridlocks, amongst others, force commuters to resort to Okada Rides

So, in which areas of the country, do Nigerians pay the highest for Okada rides?

A survey conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) provides insights on this and more

Lagos, Nigeria’s leading commercial city is ahead of other states when it comes to commuting costs by Okada.

It is followed closely by another southwest state, Ondo, ahead of two Northern states of Taraba and Yobe.

The survey shows that commuters pay as much as N900.30 per commuting distance by Okada in Lago, compared to N761.39 in Ondo and N731.65 in Taraba.

On the other hand, Bayelsa, Anambra, Edo and Ekiti, pay lowest fares commuting by Okada at N312.10, N325.07, N339.09 and N336.30 respectively.
