Why Police Came To Arrest Me, Damilere, NIJ Students’ Week Chairman

The chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) students’ week, Damilare Adebayo, has narrated how some policemen stormed the school campus, in Ogba, ikeja area of Lagos, yesterday to arrest him.

The incident happened just as the activities of the Day 1 of the six-day celebration of this year’s students’ week with the theme XLR8 had wound down.

He was shocked just like his colleagues around to hear the men say they were directed by their boss in Abuja to immediately proceed to the NIJ compound and arrest a troubling situation.

“i thought i had done something wrong, not knowing that it was the result of the fireworks that we did”,  Mr Adebayo told The Eagle Correspondent

“It had never been like this before, and this is another proof that this year’s students week, is different”, he said.

He said there was more to look forward to as the week unfolded, mentioning the career Day as the next menu whereby some accomplishing individuals would be on hand tomorrow to reveal to the students the secret to career success in their chosen fields.
