Why Nigeria Is Yet To Experience Sustainable Devt – Presidential Aspirant

A presidential hopeful for the 2023 general elections in the country, Mr Olufemi Ajadi has given reasons why the country is yet to attain sustainable development.

Ajadi, told The Eagle correspondent in Lagos that most of those occupying critical positions in the country were ill-equipped for the job and also had little or no regard for the wishes of the people.

He said these realisations have made him to come out for the race, promising to deliver the dividends of democracy once elected.

Ajadi, said he had already prepared and perfected the manifesto he would implement using tested and reliable technocrats abundant in the country.

According to him, he would also bring to bear, the experiences he had gathered in other countries which he had visited and which are equally doing well economically.

He cited an example with Singapore which he said had experienced tremendous development unlike Nigeria which though had natural endowment, but had not experienced real development.

“I have travelled to well economically driven countries. And from experience, it is not as if they are better endowed; instead, it is good leadership that makes the difference for them, why can’t Nigeria be like that?”, he rhetorically asked.

If these developed countries are not as naturally endowed as Nigeria and yet, better developed, it means that the difference is leadership and not followership”.

Mr AJadi who has been involved in a number of empowerment initiatives in his constituency, said the idea is to support people realise their ambitions and become useful members of the society.

He said the empowerment initiatives would continue political office or non, adding that this was part of his personal philosophy.

As to the challenges on the way of any emergent politician, Ajadi said he was well aware of that and that he was prepared for it.

“It is said that nothing good comes without a sacrifice or an effort. I am well aware of this and I am ready to give what it takes to realise this objective”.

He also made reference to the youths, saying the reason many of them were indulging in crime was because of the lack of opportunities.

According to him, this realisation has made him to develop a blueprint that would address the problem of youths in the country, particularly how to make them to optimise their potentials and become worthy citizens of the country,

He said he is engaged in many communal projects and leaving positive impacts in ways that many of those already in office are not able to match.
