Why Landlords’ Association Wants To Shut Down Bet9ja Shop

Landlords under Community Development Association of Adura area of Alagbado,Lagos State are on the war path, and their opponent is a Betnaija shop owner, Mr.Tunde Ajayi.

They are angry that Mr AJayi does not want the landlord’s son, identified as Mr.Deji Adekola to site his own betting shop under the same brand name in the area, thereby preventing him from earning a living in the spirit of free enterprise.

They have therefore declared a war against Ajayi, threatening as as yesterday to shut down his Betnaija shop if he insisted on not allowing Adekola to operate.

The Eagle correspondent learnt that Ajayi’s position is based an existing trade rule for franchisees under Bet9aija  not to site new shops  less than 7minutes walk from the pre-existing shop.

Responding to the faceoff, Mr Ajayi told our correspondent:  ‘’The CDA members are only disturbing themselves. I know they can’t close my shop all because, one of their members’ sons is involved in this case. The rule of Bet9ja will always prevail”.

He added that he and Mr Adekola had earlier been summoned by the authorities of the betting company over the matter where the latter was reminded of the existing rules governing franchise operations, but that he, Mr Adekola insisted he would not stop operations there.

Our correspondent was not able to obtain an immediate reaction from the CDA but we gathered that the association had already summoned Mr Ajayi on the matter.

Further investigations showed that the management of Bet9naija on its own would be stepping fully into the faceoff today and give a final ruling.
