Where Are They Now…Regina Askia-Williams?

There is an old saying that, “we shall one day cease to make history and become part of history.”This is to serve as a reminder about our celebrities of the time past that has gone away from the spotlight, most of us do remember their exploit of time past, and seems to be asking ourselves this question ‘WHERE ARE THEY NOW?’.

REGINA ASKIA-WILLIAMS…Anybody familiar with the Nollywood in the early 1990s and 2000s will remember the hazel eyed, black beauty that mesmerized the movie industry and wowed the audience, with her beauty and acting talent.

Born Imaobong Regina Askia Usoro in Lagos, 1967, She came to the spotlight in 1988 when she won the Miss UNILAG beauty contest, and also competed for the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria Pageant Contestthat same year, though she was fansfavorite, but she came up as runner-up,she would eventually win the MBGN in 1989.She took to modelling,and she became the face of range products in Nigeriastarring in commercial adverts for Kessingsheen Hair Care,Visine and boutique chain collectibles.

Regin Askia came to acting spotlight in 1993, when she played the role of Gold-Digger, Tokunbo Johnson in Nigerian Soap Fortunes on NTA Network, this role earned her fame, Awards and roles in Nollywood Movies, she went on to Star in many Nollywood movies in 1990s and early 2000s.some of the notable movies in which she starred are Festival of Fire, The President’s Daughter, and Slave warrior.

WHERE IS SHE NOW? As a graduate of UNILAG with a degree in Biology, and who has also earned a Nurse Practitioner Degree at Wagner College in the United State. She is actively involved in medical missions and writing of health articles online for Newspapers online. She is married to an American by the name Rudolph Williams, they have two children, a daughter and a son, she presently resides in the United states with her family.
