When Senate President, Lawan Sympathises With Fire Incident Victims

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan has extended his condolences to the family of the fire disaster incident which occurred at Red Bricks Quarters on Maiduguri Road, Damaturu, Yobe state.
The Senate President prayed for the Almighty’s comfort for the bereaved family and for an end to such incidents.
He conveyed the message through his official twitter account on Wednesday 8, January, 2020.
The incident which as initially reported by Premium Times occurred on Tuesday night the 7th of January, 2020’
It was later confirmed by Damaturu Fire Station officer, Usman Habu when he spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), saying that the incident happened around 11:00pm.
He said when he and his team arrived the scene, they learnt that the victims’ father named Malam Adamu Aliyu, had made efforts at rescuing his family, but he was only able to save his son, identified as Faruq Aliyu, who is five years old.
According to the fire officer, Adamu Aliyu was unable to save the rest of his family; wife and three daughters as a result of lack of alternative route for emergency exit. He also said the death occurred as a result of that.
The officer also advised forthcoming tenants and landlords to often make sure the property they plan on renting or building should have at least one or two passageway.
