What Xavi Says About Barcelona Narrow Win Over Getafe
In a 1-0 win over Getafe, Xavi concedes that Barcelona were “not excellent at all,” with a forgettable performance that was “slow and tedious” to his taste.
The Blaugrana were successful in their most recent game at Camp Nou thanks to a lone goal from Pedri in the first half that kept them three points ahead of their bitter rivals Real Madrid at the top of the standings. However, even though Barca managed to eke out a close victory over a team that was in danger of being relegated, there is still much for them to improve.

Xavi conceded as much afterwards, telling reporters: “I have to be very honest, we were not good at all. We need to minimise our poor matches like these ones.
“Overall, I think that we’ve played more better matches than we’ve played poor matches like this one. 70% of our matches have been better than this. We’re closer to a good Barca than a slow and tedious Barca.”
Barca had 68% of the ball against Getafe, but only eight shots were on goal, with only four of those finding the back of the net as they escaped a few close calls at the other end of the field.

On Wednesday, Xavi’s team will return to action when they host Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals. Given that Barca are still in a competitive position on several fronts, Xavi will expect his team to perform better in that match.
