If you are a well-to-do, then there is an obligation that you must necessarily perform this season, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has admonished.

The admonition, coming from the Enugu chairman of CAN, Rev Emmanuel Edeh, is that  you should extend hands of love to the down trodden to enable them share the joy of the yuletide season.

Edeh gave the charge while speaking during a Love Feast organised by the Association in Enugu on Monday, to celebrate the festive period with the down trodden.

He used the opportunity to remind Christians of Jesus Christ being the main reason for Christmas, and that Christians must of necessity demonstrate him to others through their acts of charity and kindness.

Assistance, no matter how little could go a long way, the cleric observed, adding that there is more to do than just preaching the word of God.

Practice of the examples of Jesus and scripturte, he said would be preferred, especially against the realisation that many people actually went to bed daily in an empty stomach.

Reacting to the state of insecurity in the country, the CAN leader said it had made things more difficult for people, with the challenging economy in tow.

He said it was to the extent that some people were no longer able to provide for themselves.

The CAN leader denounced crimes like killings, banditry and kidnapping among other challenges now rampant in the country, expressing optimism however that God would see the nation through.
