VIDEO: Luis Suarez’s Header Saves Inter Miami In CONCACAF Champions Cup

Inter Miami forward, Luis Suarez provided a huge late goal, netting in the 95th minute to secure a 2-2 draw in the club’s CONCACAF Champions Cup opener.

Inter Miami trailed 2-1 in the closing seconds of Thursday’s CONCACAF Champions Cup match. Thanks to a Suarez assist, Lionel Messi had pulled them within one goal, but five minutes into stoppage time, Suarez established himself with a goal of his own.

Suarez teamed up with Sergio Busquets, another former Barcelona colleague, for that goal. Suarez headed in the midfielder’s well-placed cross to score a vital away goal that levelled the game at 2-2.

Miami scored a huge goal, and they will now have the upper hand as they return to South Beach. Miami leads ahead of next week’s second leg thanks to the away goal rule, so Nashville will have to attack away from home against a club that has Messi and Suarez primed to lead the line.

This weekend, Inter Miami will play CF Montreal, and considering the age of his team, it will be interesting to watch how Gerardo “Tata” Martino handles things. Next, on Thursday, when Miami hosts Nashville for the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, the competition will once again be in the spotlight.
