Two Nigerian Ex-Lawmakers Cum Journalists Die Same Day

Two Nigerian ex-lawmakers cum journalists have died the same day, yesterday Thursday 25, 2024, aged 66 and 86 respectively.

The have thus thrown the political and media sectors in mourning.

First is Ex-Nigerian Senator, Ayogu Eze, who died morning of yesterday, following an undisclosed illness, said that have demobilised him for a long time now.

Mr Eze represented the Enugu North District between 2007 and 2015. He won his elections and served as a senator on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). But he died a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) having defected to the party in 2018.

Ayogu Eze

His death confirmed by an ex-aide who pleaded anonymity happened at  an undisclosed hospital in Abuja.

“He (Ayogu Eze) has been sick for a long time. His current driver and another of his aide confirmed to me that he died this morning,” the source was quoted as saying.

The second death is that of a Second Republic lawmaker and veteran Journalist, Sidi Ali, in the evening of Thursday in Kano State.

His death has also been confirmed by a family member.

Late Ali was prominent in the nation’s Second Republic particularly in the realm of public information.

His passage was attested to by a Human Rights activist and former lawmaker, Shehu Sanni via a post on his X handle on Friday.

Sannu described him as a human library who could recall every event in Nigeria’s history.

The late Ali served at the Nigerian International Press Centre, the Ministry of Information and the National Broadcasting Commission, amongst others.

The deaths of the Nigerian Ex-Lawmakers cum journalists have been thrown the two sectors into deep mourning, especially on account of their contributions while alive.
