Trump Warns Tinubu Over Christian Genocide In Nigeria

The President of the United States of America (USA), Donald Trump has expressed concern over Christian genocide in Nigeria.

He has also redesignated  Nigeria as a “country of particular concern”.

Trump’s reaction was in a post on social Media, on Friday, where he expressed the view that Christianity was facing an existential threat in Nigeria.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria.

Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter.

“I am hereby making Nigeria a “COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN” — But that is the least of it.

“When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done!”

“I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter, and report back to me.

“The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria, and numerous other Countries.

“We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian population around the World!”

In the recent, there have been increasing reports of Christian genocide in Nigeria, with pastors in some states in the country, giving chilling accounts of faith-related deaths.

The Eagle reports that Congressman Riley M. Moore has also applauded President Trump’s reaction to the issue of Christian genocide in Nigeria,

Earlier this month, he had sent a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio urging the Trump Administration to take “immediate action to address the systematic persecution and slaughter of Christians in Nigeria,” highlighting the nation’s growing reputation as “the deadliest place in the world to be a Christian.”

He observed that more than 7,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria in 2025 alone—an average of 35 per day—with hundreds more kidnapped, tortured, or displaced by extremist groups such as Boko Haram, ISIS West Africa, and the Fulani militants.

“Reports indicate that between 50,000 and 100,000 Christians have been killed and more than 19,000 Christian churches have been attacked or destroyed since 2009. Data from Open Doors indicate that more Christians are killed every year in Nigeria than the rest of the world combined”, he had added.
