These Reports About Obedients Are Disturbing And Condemnable –Peter Obi
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has described as disturbing and condemnable reports concerning his ardent supporters, now popularly known as ‘obedients;
Obi with a soar-away support, going by the huge crowd that had turned up anywhere he had held his political rallies, stated his worry via a tweet.
In fact, he described the development as disturbing and condemnable.
“Elections are not deemed free and fair when a certain group employs the tool of intimidation to ensure that the opposition is silenced, both at the campaigns and at the polls” he is quoted as tweeting.
The Anambra born politician expressed the worry that expectations of a free and fair poll would be a fairy tall, if supporters are not allowed to freely express themselves.
Peter Obi wrote,
“Peaceful assembly and unfettered electioneering campaigns are constitutionally guaranteed. Both and other ordered liberties cannot be breached wilfully by security agents.
“Recent reports of OBIdients being silently arrested by some security agents is extremely disturbing and condemnable. We must ensure that everyone is given a level playing field in the forthcoming elections, and that no eligible Nigerian, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation is disenfranchised, more so through violence and intimidation.”
