The Terrorists Were Shooting Sporadically, Threatening Lives Of..

The terrorists were shooting sporadically, threatening lives of. Innocent citizens and their properties, but we took them out.

This was the testimony of troops of 34 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in a reported combat with operatives of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Orlu, Imo State.

The army gave the account via its Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu.

Nwachukwu who issued a statement on Monday, mentioned the centre of combat as Amaifeke and Ihioma in Orlu Local Government Area.

The Eagle correspondent reports that last March, the IPOB had alleged that the Nigerian military was planning to carry out a genocide on some communities in Ihiala, Nnewi local government areas of Anambra State and Orlu, Orsu, Oru local government areas of Imo State.

In a statement issued by Emma Powerful, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, the group stated that the military officials have gone round the communities in a bid to eliminate Biafrans.
