Tears And Sorrows As Two Abducted Infants Are Found Killed

It is tears and sorrows in a Gboko neigbourhood of Benue State,  where two children earlier abducted by unknown persons have now been found killed.

The children are Eric Abba and Aondona Eric Abba, who lived at Plot 109, Captain Downes street, Gboko East aged seven and six respectively.

Expectations that the children who were abducted around the J.S. Tarka Institute of Political Studies last Saturday around 5pm, would be released were eventually dashed, as news of their killing filtered in..

The parents had left home only for the kids to go watch a match at a football viewing centre a few metres away from their residence.

On returning home, the parents were alarmed by the absence of their children and began a frantic search for them.

It was later that a footwear belonging to  one of the children  was found near a dugout area that had a pool of water and the second’s footwear at a nearby Catholic Church on Sunday morning.

The discovery prompted an initial suspicion they might have drowned in the stagnant water.

Local divers were mobilised into the shallow water for hours to no avail.

But their corpses were found dumped near the water at the J.S. Tarka Institute of Political Studies with clear evidence of strangulation around their necks on Sunday morning.

The issue has drawn tears and sorrow all around town, as to why life should be snuffed off such impressionable children.

Elder brother of the parents, Dr Ben Abba, speaking to the Nation described the departed kids as loving and full of life.

Benue had seen a lot of tears and sorrows in the recent, like a territory  under siege.siege.

Last month, the member representing Makurdi North Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly Hon. Terfa Kudi, raised the alarm that the people of his constituents were now facing  starving owing to the spates of insecurity there.

Kudi who spoke during an interacting with journalists  in Jos, Plateau State said that 70 per cent of the constituents who were predominantly farmers, had been sacked from their ancestral homes and could not go to the farms.
