Shi’ite group Strikes In Abuja, Eliminates 2 Cops Through Stabbing

The proscribed Islamic Shi’ite group has struck again in Abuja, an unprovoked attack that has claimed the lives of 2 policemen.

News of the dawn attack which also saw three other policemen sustaining injuries from knife attack, was broken by the Federal Capital Terri troy (FCT) Police command today.

“Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force attached to FCT command at Wuse Junction by traffic light were attached and two (2) police personnel were killed, three left unconscious in the hospital, and three (3) Police patrol vehicles set ablaze” spokesman of FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh said

.“The proscribed organisation attacked the police checkpoint unprovoked, wielding machetes, improvised explosive devices (locally made bombs in bottles with kerosene), and knives.

“While several arrests have been effected, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth Igweh condemns the unprovoked attack on Police officers.

“He promises to bring those involved to book. The situation is presently under control and normalcy restored.

“Further development will be communicated in due course.”

Today’s attack has broken a seeming reprieve from the attacks of the Shi’ite’ group,

In 2021, four persons reportedly died after Security Operatives had a clash with a ‘Shi’ite’ group during “Arbaeen Symbolic Trek” In Abuja.

Arbaeen Symbolic Trek is an annual event to mark the fortieth day of the murder of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, who was killed on 10th Muharram.

The commemoration however turned bloody after security operatives intercepted the procession, procession at Gwarinpa gate near Galadima, along the Kubwa expressway.

Gun shots rented the air and passersby scampered to safety.

The resultant tension lasted awhile before normalcy was restores, but residents who spoke to The Eagle on the attack urged the police to intensify investigations that could enable them nip further, related incidents in the bud.
