See Poly Students Who Got N2.2m Ransom For Kidnapping Colleague

It was a case of dog eating dog at the Crown Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti where some students are now standing accused of collecting N2.2m ransom on the head of their colleague.

The students, 14 in number have been paraded by operatives of the Rapid Respond Squad (RRS) of the Ekiti State police command.

The Eagle gathered that they kidnapped one Akiode Akinyemi from his hostel last Saturday around 10am and was whisked away to unknown destination.

Police spokesman,  ASP Sunday Abutu told the press that the family of the victim was forced to pay a N2.2 million ransom into eight different bank accounts.

“All the suspects arrested have confessed to the commission of the crime and stated that the two million, two hundred thousand naira (N2,200,000) collected as ransom before releasing the victim was shared among them,” the PPRO said.

Providing a background, he said the operatives received an information concerning the operations of the group including tjhe N2.2m ransom and swung into action immediately.

Upon arresting the gang members, it discovered all but one of them were students of the school. Abutu added that the suspects would soon be charged to court after completion of investigation.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Tunde Mobayo used the opportunity to urge residents to support the security agencies with timely and accurate information towards getting rid of criminal elements in the state.
