Revealed: Laporta Pushing For Former Bayern Coach To Replace Xavi

Hansi Flick, a former coach of Germany and Bayern Munich, has emerged as the early favourite to succeed Xavi at Barcelona this summer, a report says.
Following Xavi’s announcement on Saturday that he will step down once the current campaign ends, Barca are searching for a new coach for the upcoming campaign. According to Bild Sport, Blaugrana president Joan Laporta is “pushing” for the unemployed coach to be hired, making Flick one of the front-runners to succeed him. In the meanwhile, Flick is prepared to take on a new position and is amenable to making his maiden appearance as a head coach in a foreign league.

Laporta has been eager to get the 58-year-old to Camp Nou for a while now. According to Christian Falk, he spoke with Flick via video chat in an effort to entice him to come to Nou Camp in 2021. Xavi was hired, though, when Flick declined the position.
There are other Germans being mentioned as potential Xavi replacement, including Flick. Current Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel has also been strongly linked to the defending La Liga champions. Following Xavi’s confirmation of his departure, Tuchel expressed his desire to work in Spain.
Laporta and the Barcelona board will keep considering their options, but Flick may be returning to the game following his dismissal as Germany’s coach in 2023. The Catalan team will attempt to win the Champions League and place highly in the Spanish league table in the meantime in order to turn this season into a triumph.
