Rema Knocks Burna Boy For The 2nd Time At The MTV EMAs

Nigerian singer, Rema raises the African flag high alongside Diamond Platnumz as both emerge winners at the the 2023 MTV European Music Awards (EMAs). The event was held on Sunday, November 5, at the Paris Nord Villepinte, France.Rem.

Rema who won the category of Best Afrobeats edged his industry colleagues – Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr and Asake. This is the second time Rema has edged Burna in this award as the duo took the batons in 2020 for the best African Act, but the latter lost to Rema.

In a similar vein, Rema clinched the Song of the Year award at the 2023 Trace Awards last month, defeating Burna and others.

Diamond on the other hand bagged the award for Best African Act, defeating Burna Boy, Asake, Libianca and others. For Diamond, this is a new record as he becomes the first African artiste to win three MTV EMAs. In 2015, he won two awards for Best African Act and Best Worldwide Act the same night.
