Rainy Season: Ajadi Cautions School Children, Calls Out Ogun Govt

With the rainy season on, Chieftain of the new Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ogun State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has expressed concern over poor drainage system in the state.

Ajadi lamented that many neighborhoods have become vulnerable to flooding and associated risks in the rainy season, calling out governments for culpability.

Speaking to our correspondent, the politician cum entrepreneur lamented how,  for reasons of a lack or poor drainage, many roads and pathways have become impassable.

This, he said portended great danger for the people, especially vulnerable school children who have to trek to and fro school.

“Even the ones who go by school bus are also facing the risk, with their vehicles getting stuck in craters or floods.

“This is quite dangerous”..

He said his personal observations and reactions from Ogun people showed the state has fared worse in terms of poor infrastructure especially roads

“You can imagine what people are going through this time.

“We are complaining of challenge of poor naira value and economic hardship which has become worse recently, but with the rainy season, the people now have bigger problems in their hands

“Transporters hike their fares once it rains, and they give excuse with fuel price and bad state of the roads, this is unfair on the masses” Ajadi said.

Particularly concerned about innocent school children, he said the state of the roads, had resulted to incessant flooding which has made it risky for them to wade through successfully.

He carpeted the Ogun State government for presiding over a state with the worst infrastructure, saying that not even in Abeokuta, the state capital could one sight discernible infrastructure built in the last four years.

“What then is the government the people’s resources for?

“We are called the Gateway state, yet there are no good infrastructure to back that up.

“Why are we the gateway state and yet among the last in infrastructure”, he queried rhetorically.
