There was jubilation in the camp of Purple House when it emerged overall winners at this year’s inter-house sports competition of the Tokunbo Alli Primary School, Ikeja, Lagos.
Purple House was followed by Orange House in the second, while Green House came third.
Events competed for included March past, 75m, 100m races, relay, Filling the basket, Threading the Needle, Filling the bottle, Blind fold, Tug of war, Balloon race, Egg race ,Leme & Spoon , Table Tennis, among others .
The programmes commenced at about 12noon at the main field of the school premises with the queens for each house filing out in cute and beautiful colors, with backings from the chairman of each house, which included Alhaja Akintola for blue house, Olufemi AjadiPpurple house, Engr. Adefemi for Orange house known and Green house
In his post victory remark Mr Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo described the event as fulfilling, urging parents and guardians to encourage their wards to participate in sporting activities always.
He said the importance of sports in the total well-being could not be overemphasized, adding that people have ceased to depend on education alone for livelihood but now factor sporting activities where they are gifted.
On his reason for accepting to be chairman of the Purple House, he said: “As a person, I am always ready to engage in social responsibility contribution at every point of time in helping the poor in my country and believed that the next year forthcoming event will be a great one.”
He also called on the Lagos state government to look into the problem of inadequately learning facilities especially school buildings in the state, adding that the best way to make the education of the children qualitative.
Aare Ona Kakanfo Of Yoruba Land, Chief Ganiyu Adams, who was supposed to be the father of the day however sent a representative, Hon. Akeem Amosun Education Secretary.
