About 30 suspects are now guests of the police after being arrested for allegedly holding a cult initiation procession
The Ogun State Police Command said in a statement yesterday that it smashed them at Isara-Remo area of the state on Tuesday.
The suspects are Muiz Olawale, Adeniji Akinwale, Ajayi Victor, Damilola Oluwasegun, Adewale Olayemi, Aminu Rahmon, Olodudu Ademola, Matthew Imoleayo, Adenle Habeb, Lekan Qudus, Olamilekan Ayanleke, Adegbasa Ezekiel, Ibukun Adeniyi, Abiodun Babatunde, Oshofolahan Michael, Salau Adedeji, Benjamin Kehinde, Magnus Elijah, and Oluwadamilare Samson.
Others include Oyebowale Ojutona, Abiodun Makanjuola, Idowu Toheeb, Olamide Sunday, Malik Also, Abdullahi Damilola, Israel Ayomikun, Oyeledun Ezekiel, Adelabu Imoleayo, Ajayi Oluwasegun, and Olaawun Faith.
Police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said they were apprehended on Tuesday by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), in collaboration with detectives from the Isara Area Command and Isara Division.
The suspects had converged at an uncompleted building in Isara-Remo for unlawful gathering involving meeting activities, consumption of alcoholic substances, chanting, and initiation attempts when they were rounded up and arrested.

He noted that four vehicles allegedly abandoned during the attempted escape, one jackknife, one local drum, one “sekere” (rattle), and bottles suspected to have been used for alcohol consumption were recovered.
Suspects arrested in connection with the cult initiation procession, have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, the police said
According to the cops spokesman, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bode Ojajuni, has commended the swift response, discipline, and professionalism of the operatives involved.
He also quotes him as saying that cultism and related criminal activities would not be condoned in the state.
