Olabisi Onabanjo SUG Lends Support To Ajadi’s Governorship Quest

The Students Union Government (SUG) of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, Ogun State has promised to give its support to the governorship quest of Olufemi Ajadi.

The students’ body spoke in Ago Iwoye today through its president Akorede Afeez and some executive members during a meeting Olufemi Ajadi campaign team.

Ajadi is the gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the state.

Speaking on the inevitability of the visit, Afeez said Olabisi Onabanjo University is an institution that is known for its well-grounded students whose contributions to political activities in the state has remained outstanding.

He said as a result, the students body would be instrumental in the emergency of public office holders in the state.

He added that news of the various humanitarian assistance of Ajadi was well known to them and has set him apart from other contenders.

Afeez echoed the assertion that the incumbent government had not only fulfilled his promises to the electorates, but instead, deprived the students of OOU of their expected needs, especially means of transportation for the union.

The SUG president, who is also the chairman of the council of SUG presidents of the Southwest, promised the effective propagation of Ajadi’s manifesto to other campuses in Ogun State.

“We would be grateful if His Excellency could give us a branded vehicle for mobility and campaigning strategy,” he said.

The Medical Director of the Union, Oliyide Damilare and the chairman of the National Association of Universities Students, Yunusa Abdullahi, also reiterated the SUG president’s statements.

While acknowledging the students’ presence, the Director of the Campaign Strategy of Ajadi’s campaign team, Badmus Kilamuwaye, told the students that they had spoken well, adding that the ruling party has made the Nigerian students academically irrelevant, especially the female ones amongst them.

Kilamuwaye moved further to make the students know that apart from being a gubernatorial candidate, Ajadi is also the president of the All Youths Reorientation Initiative of Nigeria, (AYRION).

He said Olufemi Ajadi is the youngest gubernatorial candidate among his contemporaries throughout the states of the country, Nigeria.

He went further to say that the incumbent government of the state has only engaged in acquiring wealth in governance rather than providing social and infrastructural facilities for the electorates.

He said, “Well, the ex-governor, Ibikunle Amosun, acquired money through governance but performed fairly well.”

“I want you to only work majorly with the students that have their permanent voters cards and we promise to provide mobility for those who are yet to get theirs from the INEC,” he said
