N150 Levy: Area Boys Stab Final Year Student To Death

What is the worth of N150 that it should cause the death of a final year student, less than ten days to his graduation?

Well, that is the painful question that many have been led to ask, but the reality, is that it will never bring back Francis Palowei

Until his sad stabbing to death, he was a final year student of the Niger Delta University in Amassoma, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Reports say he had gone to the Sand Dump, a popular spot among the students for relaxation and socialising when tragedy occurred.

t came off the weapons of some youths in the area who allegedly stabbed him to death for refusing to give them N150.

The Public Relations Officer of Niger Delta University, Indoni Engezi, confirmed the incident on Wednesday to Punch.

The report indicated that though the owner of the sand dump does not charge any fees for using the premises, but some youths take it upon themselves to exact that charge.

It was not totally clear how this resulted into the death of the student, but Musa Mohammed, Police Public Relations Officer, said the Commissioner of Police, Francis Idu, has deployed additional police manpower to the community to maintain the peace.

The incident has left many sad given that Palowei, who hailed from the Obrigbene community in the Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, was expected to graduate on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, the university’s next convocation date.

According to the report that police has moved into the neigbourhood, sniffing the grounds in a bid to fish out the perpetrators, but pain over elimination of the final year student remain.
