MTN Retains Highest Market Share of 38.06% In Three Months – NCC

According to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), MTN has maintained the highest share of 38.06 per cent amongst other telecom networks whose customers’ mobile lines ported from one network to another between March and May 2022,

Figures, obtained from the commission showed that MTN held 38.06 percent, followed by Airtel with 28.22 percent and Globacom with 27.54 percent.

The fourth GSM entrant in Nigeria, 9mobile, had the smallest market share at only 6.19 percent.

NCC statistics published on its website, reveal a total of 2,202 users moved from other networks to the MTN network in March 2022. In contrast, 345 subscribers ported to Globacom, 290 subscribers ported to Airtel, and just 115 members ported to 9mobile during the same month.

As 832 users switched to the telco in April 2022, MTN continued to hold the lead in terms of the number of subscribers who left for other networks.

Additionally, in the same month, 354 customers switched to Artel, 131 switched to 9mobile, and only 112 switched to Globacom, for a total of 1,429 users who switched to other networks in April.

Meanwhile, There were 3,246 users who moved networks in May 2022, including 1,731 who joined the MTN network, 1,050 who joined the Airtel network, 314 who joined 9mobile, and only 151 who joined Globacom.

In total, 6,877 subscribers changed their mobile lines from one network to another between March and May 2022, in search of better service quality.
