Man’s Property Destroyed Over Killing Of Neighbour’s Dog

A forty- six year-old-man, Abimbola Opeoluwa’s car and house was vandalized when his neighbor attacked him for killing their dog.

In an interview with Abimbola, he explained that he got back from work at about 10:30pm on Saturday, when he saw the animal chewing his shoe around his entrance gate.

He said he was angry and shocked to notice the animal chewing his shoe, he attempted to send the dog away and take the shoe from it. The dog then attempted to attack him,which made him hit the dog with a rod, adding that it cried out and attracted through attention of it’s owners who live next door.

Abimbola who is an automobile engineer in the Arepo area of Ogunstate, told the community leader that he was surprised when one of his neighbors,Adeola,19, emerged from the background and threatened him for hitting the dog without hearing his part of the story. He added they the threat provoked him further and he went inside, got the rod and hit the animal till it died.

At that point, Abimbola said Adeola went to their apartment and mobilized his elder brother who gave his name as Kunle, 28, adding that when he saw them running towards his apartment with malice, and knowing that he could not challenge them. He ran into the next compound and he watched helplessly as they shattered the windscreen of his car and broke into his apartment.He added that they started destroying things when they searched for him thoroughly without success.

He also said that after they broke into his house and damaged all his property there, they brought out his newly bought television and smashed it on his car.

The noise woke the neighborhood from their sleep as they rushed to the scene yo save the apartment from further ruins.

Abimbola, who allegedly believes that Mustapha, the father of Kunle and Adeola, had encouraged his sons to wreck havoc to his apartment, saying Mustapha had threatened to implicate him in the community if he was not careful.

He said he has reported the arson to the Mowe police division and the officers had taken stock of the damages done.

However a close-door neighbor said she was alarm by the shattering of glasses at an ungodly hour of the night,adding that she called the community chairman after she heard the voice of the father of the attackers telling his Randy sons to shatter all the glasses on Abimbola’s car because the dog he killed was a big and expensive one.

She said the loud bang of the television crashing into the car attracted the remaining neighbors and distress call was placed to the members of the community’s Vigilante group. She confirmed that before help could come, the attackers had ran away after wrecking a great havoc on Abimbola’s property.
